LADWP publishes a standard residential schedule (R-1A) with tiered consumption charges and a power access charge, and a time-of-use schedule (R-1B) with high-peak, low-peak, and base-period consumption charges plus a monthly service charge. Adjustment factors are included in the total consumption figures and are updated during the year.
Current-period limit
The figures below are for July 1–September 30, 2026, the current published period verified on August 15, 2026. LADWP had not populated October–December 2026 totals on the page at verification time, so this guide does not invent them.
R-1A Standard Residential
R-1A separates usage into tiers. The published total consumption charges already include the listed adjustment factors for the effective period. A monthly power access charge also varies with the highest tier reached.

Your bill determines how much usage falls into each tier. The calculator therefore asks for the tier kWh shown on the bill rather than guessing a tier allowance from an address or household profile.
R-1B Time-of-Use Residential
R-1B prices usage by time period. The current published table includes separate high-peak, low-peak, and base-period total consumption charges, plus a monthly service charge.

Whether time of use is favorable depends on how much usage can move between periods, not simply on total monthly kWh. Use interval or bill-period usage when available and review LADWP’s current period definitions before changing plans.
Why a calculator result can differ from a bill
- Taxes, discounts, credits, subsidies, riders, and water charges are excluded.
- Billing read dates can cross a price change, causing usage to be prorated between periods.
- The estimator uses the tier or time-period kWh you enter; a transcription error changes the result.
- Net energy metering, special service, large-residential, or assistance-program billing needs a different model.
